Leading the digital libraries infrastructure project including business case development and planning, project includes collections, digitisation, and digital preservation solutions.
Strategic leadership over library research services: open research, repository services, research data management, bibliometrics, and open access funder compliance. Working in partnership with the academic chairs of the Responsible Research Metrics and Open Research Groups to develop institutional statements and strategic plans, steering these through wider consultation and University governance, working in partnership with colleagues in faculties and professional services to embed change with research practice.

Leadership of the Minerva team, the virtual learning environment for all students until December 2020. In 2021 the service was re-aligned into the Digital Education Service. Supporting the team through organisational change in consultation with the trade unions.

Digital preservation technical lead to establish an integrated open source software solution and technical infrastructure for digital assets. Working with the digital archivist to define workflows for born digital and digitised content.

Improving access to archive collections and cataloguing capabilities through the implementation of ArchivesSpace with the Archives Team.
Leading the adoption and implementation of the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) for sharing and reuse of digitised content.
Creation of a digital scholarship developer position, working on: linking digitised theses to Wikidata; OCR processing and metadata extraction from digitised content; sharing open content and open data.
Scottish Digital Library Consortium (SDLC) technical lead, working with the SDLC partner institutions to transition to a shared service and develop the portfolio of open source software based services.
Product owner for the DataVault project to deliver long term secure archiving of research data.
Supporting student employment and innovation through student internships funded through CIO innovation funding to:
- Improve the student experience with maps of the main library sites integrated with Primo.
- Develop the metadata games platform for crowdsourcing of digitised images.
- Integrate Schema.org with open source software for improved discovery of collections.
- Develop a virtual museum for the Coimbra Group to showcase cultural heritage collections.
A member of the Information Services Group: Technical Standards Group, IT Security Group, and Change Advisory Board.
Member of the Library Senior Management Team, representing the Library Director at wider University senior management meetings. Working on strategic policy, planning, and spending for the division. Setting priorities and budgets for the Digital Library section for the academic year in accordance with Library and wider Information Services and University’s strategic objectives. Establishing links with colleagues in the colleges and across professional services to further Library participation in existing initiatives and develop new projects. . Direct oversight of:
